This is your chance to influence the future of an industry that's making waves in wellness and beyond. Follow along as we guide you through the process so you can ensure that lawmakers shaping CBD regulations hear your opinions.
Congress Opens the Door
So what led to this? On July 27th, 2023, Senators McMorris Rodgers, Cassidy, Pallone Jr., and Sanders issued a Request for Information (RFI) to the public, inviting your insights on how CBD products should be regulated in food and dietary supplements. This call to action comes after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) signaled its intent to collaborate with Congress on crafting a legislative framework for CBD product regulation. The FDA's stance has been cautious due to CBD's association with the drug Epidiolex. The agency acknowledges the need for a comprehensive approach. Now, your thoughts can help shape this vital legislation.
Engaging with the RFI
Congress is keen on understanding your perspective. They're interested in various aspects of CBD production, marketing, and safety. The scope of questions covers significant topics such as market dynamics, regulatory pathways, federal-state relationships, safety concerns, and packaging and labeling issues. This is your opportunity to provide insights from your vantage point as an integral part of the CBD and THC industry. Your knowledge and personal experiences are a cornerstone in crafting regulations that ensure quality, safety, and consistency.
