Honoring Artistic Inspiration: A Change in Our Artist Blends
Picture this: You’re going to your local smoke shop to re-up on one of your beloved disposable vapes: our Artists’ Blends series. But wait, what’s this? Something is different. The artists you knew and loved are no longer on the packaging! Where did they go? This may or may not have happened to you recently. But don’t fret, we’ll explain what’s going on.
If you’re a longtime fan of Mellow Fellow, then you know that we’ve always found inspiration in the world of art and creativity. Our cannabinoid blends have been affectionately named after renowned artists such as Dali, Picasso, and Frida Kahlo, paying homage to their artistic brilliance. However, we must inform our beloved supporters (you) that we will be removing the artists' names and images from our packaging for a few reasons. In this blog post, we’ll provide an understanding of the reasons behind this decision, and assure you that our commitment to quality and creativity remains steadfast.
Respecting Regulations
As respectable leaders in the hemp industry, we continuously strive to comply with the rules and regulations in the field. The hemp industry is moving towards more defined regulations, largely stemming from concerns you may recall us pointing out in our other blog posts. Recent updates in regulations regarding product labeling and marketing have prompted us to evaluate our packaging and naming choices. While it may sadden us to make these changes, we firmly believe that it is crucial to align with the evolving legal landscape.
One of the concerns that contributed to regulations is that cannabinoid products could be marketed in ways that could be appealing to children, endangering their safety. As a brand that values the safety of their customers, we also value the safety of individuals who should not be using our products (anyone under 21 years of age), especially children.
According to the legislation (CS/CS/SB 1676), the term "attractive to children" means a product that is manufactured in the shape of humans, cartoons, or animals; is manufactured in a form that bears any reasonable resemblance to an existing candy product that is familiar to the public as a widely distributed, or branded food product such that a product could be mistaken for the branded product, especially by children. The artists on our previous packaging take the shape of humans, which may potentially be subject to misinterpretation. Removing the artists is a proactive measure we’re taking to further ensure that our packaging aligns with the intended purposes of the legislation. We are also changing to all child resistant packaging, and there will be more changes to come as we learn more.
Promoting a Focus on the Product
From formulation to extraction, our in-house PhD Pharmacists and Chemists have always crafted our Delta 8 blends with meticulous care and attention to detail. Ensuring the highest quality for our customers has remained a top priority. By shifting away from the association with artists' names and images, we hope to encourage a more direct focus on the unique features of each blend.
Celebrating Art in Other Ways
While we’ll no longer present the artists' names and images, we want to emphasize that our love for art and creativity remains as strong as ever. Moving forward, we’ll explore alternative avenues to honor and celebrate the artists who have inspired us. As one of the only brands in the industry with an in-house team of artists, our graphic designers utilize AI tools to unify our vision with the style of the artists we draw inspiration from. Our commitment to fostering creativity within our community remains unwavering.
At this point, you may be wondering what will take the artists’ place. Can you keep a secret? Between us, that’s something that we’ve spent quite some time determining. Apart from our highly acclaimed live resin blends, we’re extremely excited to let you know to keep an eye out for the Artists’ Blends transitioning to Mellow Fellow Destinations.
Final Thoughts
As we bid farewell to the names of iconic artists on our cannabinoid blend packaging, we do so with a heavy heart but a steadfast commitment to compliance, transparency, and responsible business practices. We deeply appreciate the support and understanding of our customers as we navigate these necessary changes. Rest assured, the essence of our Delta 8 and HHC cannabinoid blends, carefully crafted to deliver unparalleled quality and satisfaction, remains unchanged. Let us embark on this new chapter together, honoring art in different ways and continuing to inspire and uplift one another. What are your thoughts on the recent changes to our packaging? Hey, I just found you all! I respect your vision and need to adapt here. I will keep buying and have spoken to local shops to carry
The bright packaging and artists are what initially drove me to try the products. It’s the only store brand I use. I’ll continue to use them regardless of what they are labeled as. What I want to know is where are the live resin gummies? Lol
Will you still keep making the Phantom OG ?!?
What a bummer. Oh well, I still love mellow fellow products and will continue to support this brand no matter what they rename them too. Side note the live resin is no joke and pretty much all my wife and I puff on these days.
